Impact Investing. How do you invest for impact? What do impact investors actually look for? Can my business attract impact investment? Can my business be an impact investor? What is impact investing???
During this week’s Lunch and Learn, Ruby Alcantara, who’s spent the past decade working in impact investing in Europe, US and Africa, will give us some insights on what impact investing actually is and how investors measure impact. She’ll walk us through the journey of a venture from the point of seeking impact investment capital, securing it and then having to manage the expectations of impact investors through the journey.
Ruby Alcantara is the managing director of Supivaa Advisory Group, Canadian-based boutique advisory firm, rooted in impact investment particularly in gender-lens investing (GLI) and SDG 5 gender equity. Supivaa’s mission is to provide women a stepping stone for financial and economic independence by working with both entrepreneurs and investors, to help scale and grow businesses while simultaneously creating new business role models to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. Ruby is also the Co-Chair of the Membership Engagement Committee for the Canadian Forum for Impact Investment and International Development, which is a community of individuals, organisations and investors working in developing countries who treat social and environmental impact and financial return as coexisting priorities.
