On October 11th, the HiVE is launching our latest pARTnership to foster community engagement and dialogue between local businesses and artists, creating a thriving, creative, and symbiotic relationship. And we’ve found just the gal to help us pull this off; we’ve brought Wendy Sexsmith on as the HiVE’s Art Curator! And we’re in good hands:
An Emily Carr Fine Arts alumni, Wendy Sexsmith has been involved in numerous art projects, festivals, events and collaborations in Vancouver over the past decade. From participating in and curating shows at galleries, to painting murals in public and private spaces, opening her own “Alley Gallery” in Strathcona, getting involved in various festivals such as the Queer Art Festival, Art for Life and the Cultural Crawl, and making art for an array of diverse clients, she is well seasoned in the Vancouver art scene. Wendy is excited to take on the Art Curating role in partnership with the HiVE and continue to support artists and art events in Vancouver through this new outlet.
Cheap Thrills will feature many of Vancouver’s emerging and established artists, providing limited edition art pieces presented on panel at an affordable price (all work will be $100). Come grab a drink, admire the art, and enjoy the eclectic beats of Andrew Bee, Darrel Stables and Deel el Lobo.
Line-Up Includes: Phresha, Ola Volo, Jamie Bizness, Mugwort, Kristian Adams, Michael Hall, Beata Kacy, Suzan Marczak, Jenn Brisson, Deborah Bakos, John Shaw, Lauren Harramen, Amanda Bullick, Wendy Sexsmith.
